Bozeman exemplifies the best of Big Sky country, thanks to its dramatic mountainscapes, diverse wildlife, and emerald-green lakes. It’s located in the Rocky Mountains in the southern part of Montana.

As Bozeman grows, it’s getting more expensive; the housing market is incredibly competitive, with the typical home selling for just under $700,000, per Attom. Its remoteness also means there’s only one recommended hospital within 25 miles. But that’s all a tradeoff residents are happy to make for open space and access to all the outdoor wonders that make the area highly rated for both health and fitness.

Bozeman is known as the gateway to Yellowstone National Park, just an hour and a half away by car. Lovers of the outdoors can also hike Sacagawea Peak in Gallatin National Forest and kayak in sparkling alpine Fairy Lake, at the base of the peak. Paradise Valley is close by, too, a stunning spot for horseback riding and fly-fishing. Whitewater rafting is within reach as well, and you can enjoy a soak after all your adventures at Bozeman Hot Springs. Bozeman itself has over 80 miles of trails leading from the city to the mountains, great for jogging and biking.

Main Street is full of character, bustling with outdoor-gear shops, art galleries, and some of the area’s best restaurants. The city’s downtown hosts a vibrant microbrewery scene with its own historic brewery district, featuring spots like Map Brewing Co. and Bozeman Brewing Co.
