Jenny Johnson is the third-generation CEO of Franklin Templeton, which her grandfather founded in 1947 and passed to her father with $2.5 million a decade later. Johnson is the architect of one of the most consequential transformations in modern asset management. She stepped into the role in February 2020 at the height of the pandemic, simultaneously integrating the company’s $4.5 billion acquisition of asset management firm Legg Mason. In the years since, she has added almost $1 trillion in assets under management, building a fully diversified global platform through acquisitions spanning Lexington Partners, Putnam Investments, and Alcentra.
