Isabel Ge Mahe, who runs Apple’s operations across mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, can breathe a little easier. China is one of Apple’s most important markets and currently drives about 20% of its total revenue. Yet in recent years, Apple has had to battle geopolitical tensions, supply-chain disruptions, and new competition from Chinese phonemakers like Huawei. But a new product can quickly turn around a company’s fortunes: Apple’s China sales are rebounding thanks to the iPhone 17, lifting the company to second place in the country’s smartphone market.
