Sinead Gorman has served as CFO of Shell since April 2022. The 25-year Shell veteran began her career in trading before rising through M&A and treasury as well as finance roles for Shell’s shale and upstream units. She’s the rare CFO who has seen the business from virtually every angle. Her tenure has been defined by relentless discipline: Since 2022, Shell has achieved $5.1 billion in structural cost reductions. Last year, it returned roughly 52% of cash flow from operations to shareholders and in the first quarter of 2026 logged its 18th consecutive quarter of at least $3 billion in buybacks. As Shell doubles down on LNG and oil—a controversial strategy—Gorman remains the company’s primary voice to investors and one of the most consequential women in the energy industry.
