Driven by a boost in ­international markets, revenue at RGA grew nearly 3%, to $12.9 billion, in 2018. The company’s gains come at a time when individuals are living longer—a trend that’s expected to prompt some types of insurers to seek out more of their own protection. Case in point: RGA inked a deal to ­reinsure about 45,000 people with ­annuities for insurer ­Manulife, announced in February.
