Reportedly China’s richest woman, Yang is also one of the world’s wealthiest people under 40—thanks in large part to the Country Garden stake transferred to her by her father, company founder Yang Guoqiang, in 2007. That’s not to say Yang Huiyan herself hasn’t played a part in Country Garden’s success; having accompanied her father to board meetings as a teenager, the 38-year-old Yang now runs the company alongside him as co-chair—having been promoted from her previous role of vice chair in late 2018. Together, the pair leads one of China’s largest property firms, with holdings that extend across across Malaysia and Australia.
