Hasenfratz started her career in 1990 at her father’s car parts factory in Ontario, Canada, but since taking over the business in 2002, she has become one of the country’s only female CEOs. A prominent and outspoken voice in the manufacturing industry, her business pulled in $5.6 billion in revenue in 2018, up 7% from the prior year. But the company—and the industry as a whole—is facing serious headwinds, as Hasenfratz has openly acknowledged: trade tariff policies by U.S. President Donald Trump have been “100%” responsible for softening demand in the auto industry in Canada, she said in June.
