Wei Sun Christianson

Christianson is an outspoken advocate for the further opening up of China’s capital markets. Under her leadership, Morgan Stanley’s China business continues to lead. The bank topped the country's M&A market in 2018, according to Thomson Financial, but it surrendered its lead to Goldman Sachs when it came to equity capital markets, both in terms of deal value and number of deals. Revenues for the bank in Asia, a region that Christianson co-leads, reached $2.4 billion by the second quarter of this year. (Japan is excluded from the division.) Christianson has focused on expanding Morgan Stanley’s operations in Asia, leading to record revenue growth in the region over the past year.
