Founded in 1972 by Don Valentine, the storied venture capital firm Sequoia Capital has backed Apple, Google, Reddit, Nvidia, and Airbnb—and has also written off a $214 million investment in the collapsed crypto exchange FTX.

Following the exchange's dramatic implosion in 2022, Sequoia Capital slashed its crypto fund by roughly two-thirds, from about $585 million to $200 million. But, since then, the venture firm has celebrated multiple exits from crypto companies in which it's invested, including Stripe's acquisition of both the stablecoin startup Bridge as well as the wallet firm Privy.
