Founded in 2014 by Ethereum cofounder Joseph Lubin, Consensys is an infrastructure company focused on developing apps for the Ethereum blockchain. Its product suite includes one of the most widely used crypto wallets, MetaMask; the API service Infura; and the blockchain network Linea.

Consensys faced a major regulatory challenge from the Securities and Exchange Commission, which alleged in 2024 that MetaMask's staking and swap services constituted unregistered securities offering. MetaMask prevailed and the SEC dropped the case in 2025. The company's crypto wallet serves a global user base, and Consensys has also launched its own stablecoin.
