Fireblocks, headquartered in New York, was launched in 2018 by former cybersecurity professionals Idan Ofrat, Pavel Berengoltz, and Michael Shaulov. Founded as a crypto custody firm, the company assists various organizations, including decentralized autonomous organizations and Wall Street firms, in managing private keys.

In response to a shifting regulatory climate that makes it easier for banks to hold digital assets, Fireblocks has become a major player among institutional clients rushing to enter the crypto space—its clients include BNY Mellon, BNP Paribas, and others. Fireblocks, whose backers include BNY Mellon and Ribbit Capital, has in recent years added a growing suite of additional crypto services. The company has secured more than $10 trillion on behalf of its customers as of 2026.
