As country director of sub-Saharan at Facebook, Ntshingila is tasked with leading the sales side of the company’s business in the region across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. In September 2019, there were over 155 million monthly users in the sub-Saharan region alone, up from 139 million in July 2018. Ntshingila’s goal of ultimately connecting Africa’s more than one billion people via Facebook platforms is complicated by the unreliability and, at times, downright scarcity of Internet access on the continent. Over 98% of monthly users in her region access Facebook on mobile. Prior to her current role at Facebook, Ntshingila was the director of communications at Nike and the chair and CEO of advertising agency Ogilvy & Maher.
