The vast empire of Malaysia's richest man, Robert Kuok, includes the Shangri-La hospitality chain, overseen by his daughter Kuok Hui Kwong. Kuok became CEO of the hotel group in August 2025. The move put her in full control of one of Asia's best-known hotel chains—a succession milestone for the family. The group generated $2.2 billion in revenue in 2025. A Harvard graduate, she previously ran SCMP Group, publisher of the South China Morning Post, from 2009 to 2012.
