Republican lawmakers unveiled the long-awaited healthcare bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act implemented under President Barack Obama.

The bill, which takes apart a significant portion of the healthcare law signed by Obama, aims to roll back the role of government in healthcare and is expected to leave more individuals without health insurance, the Associated Press reported.

House committees will vote on the bill on Wednesday, sparking what may be a divisive battle in Congress.

Parts of the plan proposed by House Republicans will roll back the health care law’s fines on those who do not purchase health insurance and give people tax credits based on age instead of income-based premium subsidies, as is the case in the current law.
