Path, a mobile social networking app, has raised $40 million in new VC funding at a $250 million valuation, according to All Things D. Redpoint Ventures led the round, and likely was joined by return backers Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Index Ventures and Digital Garage Japan. www.path.com

Endplay Inc., a Los Angeles-based provider of SaaS content management and monetization solutions, has raised around $21.5 million in new VC funding from firms like VantagePoint Capital Partners and Advanced Technology Ventures. www.endplay.com

StraighterLine, a Baltimore-based provider of discounted online courses that earn third-party college credit, has raised $10 million in new VC funding. FirstMark Capital led the round, and was joined by City Light Capital and return backer Chrysalis Ventures. www.straighterline.com

Tioga Pharmaceuticals Inc., a San Diego-based drug startup focused on gastrointestinal diseases, has raised $10 million in Series B funding. Thomas, McNerney & Partners led the round with an $8 million investment, and was joined by return backer Genesys Capital Partners. www.tiogapharma.com

Unmetric Inc., a provider of social media benchmarking services for Fortune 500 companies, has raised $3.2 million in Series A funding led by Nexus Venture Partners. www.unmetric.com

SeaWell Networks Inc., an Ontario-based provider of adaptive bitrate (ABR) management software solutions, has raised C$3 million in new Series B funding from return backers BDC Venture Capital and Northwater Capital Intellectual Property Fund. The round total now stands at C$8 million. www.seawellnetworks.com

Molecular Detection Inc., a Wayne, Penn.-based developer of tests for increasing the speed and accuracy of infectious disease diagnosis, has raised $1.9 million in Series B recap funding. Return backers include MentorTech Ventures, Robin Hood Ventures, Elm Spring Holdings and the Mid-Atlantic Angel Group. www.detect-ready.com
