NPD confirms: Android is the top US Smartphone OS

Another day, another measurement that says Android has passed both Apple and RIMM’s phone efforts.

NPD group today made available their US Q2 2010 Smartphone data market share numbers.  For the first time since 2007, Blackberry wasn’t the leader.

The new champ?  Android, which accounted for one out of every three smartphones purchased in the US.

Canalys and Nielsen both found similar numbers yesterday.

NPD was the first group to recognize the Android growth trend in May as pushed it past Apple’s iPhone.
