Just a 30-minute drive from bustling Detroit, the City of Novi offers a reprieve from city life with its close proximity to lakes and trails for outdoor activities, kayaking, and picnics. It hosts a variety of art and cultural festivals and is home to the annual Michigan state fair.

Novi has a host of resources for aging adults, including top-rated assisted living and nursing homes, and a seniors activity center that provides exercise classes, social activities, and travel opportunities. Residents have access to quality doctors and specialists, and the local hospital, Ascension Providence Hospital – Novi Campus, has been ranked as one of America’s top 50 hospitals two years in a row.

The majority of the public schools rate above average, and the Novi public high school received the GreatSchools College Success Award for the last five consecutive years, recognizing how well it prepares students for higher education.

Novi’s city council voted in 2018 to add LGBTQ+ protections to its anti-discrimination laws. —AM
