Abigail Johnson has never been a CEO who courts the spotlight. Instead, she lets the numbers do the talking. In 2025, Fidelity posted $37.7 billion in revenue, up 15% from 2024, and $12.7 billion in operating income, a 24% increase, as the privately held giant continued to outpace much of the publicly traded asset management industry. Under Johnson’s watch, Fidelity now oversees $17.59 trillion in assets under administration and $7.1 trillion in managed assets, serving around 57 million customers across virtually every corner of personal finance. Fidelity is known for its unique combination of retail and B2B services, and in 2025 the company claimed the No. 1 market position in two new categories—defined benefit plans and HSAs. It has also recently launched its first tokenized money-market fund, a stablecoin, and a Solana ETP, cementing the firm’s position as the most digitally aggressive of the legacy asset managers. Johnson, who joined Fidelity as an equity analyst in 1988 and took the reins as CEO in 2014, has built a firm that is simultaneously a retirement stalwart, a brokerage innovator, and an increasingly serious player in digital assets.
