The only female executive directly reporting to Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam, Walden is overseeing the $131.6 billion company’s evolution from a telecom into a media business aiming to compete with Facebook and Google. Walden is rumored to be on the short list of potential successors to McAdam, but right now her focus is integrating Yahoo—acquired for $4.8 billion in July—with AOL, bought last year for $4.4 billion. She also runs some of the company’s new ventures, such as online video streaming and connected cars.
