Hilde Aasheim

The first woman to helm the global industrial company, Aasheim was named CEO of Norsk Hydro in May this year. The Norwegian aluminum producer, which had revenues of $17.8 billion in 2018, employs 35,000 people in 40 countries. She has used the opportunity to champion sustainability, with ambitions to make her company a leader in reducing the environmental impacts of metals. Currently, the company has the lowest carbon footprint for aluminum production in the world, and she intends to lower it further. Aside from her green initiatives, Aasheim has announced initiatives to renew the company’s board and tighten the company’s purse strings for increased profitability.
