Lucy Liu

As a cofounder and president of Airwallex, Lucy Liu has built the Melbourne-born fintech into a global payments platform serving more than 675,000 businesses. Her involvement began in 2015, when she met Max Li and Jack Zhang, who needed $500,000 for his startup; Liu, then 25 and on a career break from finance, offered $1 million instead. "I was 25, and I had a bit of an overconfidence situation," she says now, referring to her early years at the company. The overconfidence paid off: After June's $320 million Series H, Airwallex is valued at $11 billion with more than $1 billion in annualized revenue.
