The AI era has arrived, and every company must become a digital company in some capacity. What stands out among year's 100 Best Companies to Work For is their ability to rebuild the social contract at work so people feel supported, trusted, and future-ready as they undergo that transition. For the 29th edition of our list, editorial partner Great Place to Work compiled confidential surveys from over 640,000 workers at eligible companies. Against the backdrop of the AI revolution, three themes define this year's top employers: They are listening more closely than their peers; they're investing heavily in AI-ready careers; and even as work becomes more digital and always-on, they're doubling down on analog perks that give employees more time to care for the people they love most.

Synchrony's products are designed to help its customers live healthier financial lives, and it’s extending the same mission to its 20,000-plus workers. After 86% of employees voiced they wanted flexibility post-pandemic, the company embraced a hybrid work model, adding the option of attending weekly in-person Connection Days to drive purposeful collaboration. Ask Us Anything town halls, frequent pulse surveys, and leadership roundtables build a cycle of feedback and strengthen employee trust. And the fact that 94% of staffers say Synchrony is a great place to work suggests that it has found perks that actually provide support, including robust childcare benefits, skills-building programs, and diverse wellness offerings. In 2025, Synchrony announced it would invest $1 million over two years to bolster K–12 personal finance education, and launched an employee-led volunteer corps to teach it locally.Employees say:"What makes Synchrony a truly great place to work is its genuine emphasis on employee morale and engagement. Staffers are starting families with the help of its adoption and parental leave offerings; saving on dream trips through discount travel perk Go Hilton; and, for those who qualify for a Thrive Sabbatical, making use of paid four-week breaks.Employees say:"Hilton creates opportunities for everyone regardless of gender, race or how your identify. Hilton welcomed me as an LGBTQ+ Team Member long before it was socially acceptable. As a result, I was able to learn and become confident in my own skin. The supermarket giant has run a college scholarship program for over 40 years, and offers mentorship and career development sessions.Employees say:"There is generally a feeling that coworkers are your family, especially in smaller departments. We are constantly changing and looking for ways to improve. Feedback is welcome and employees can see their suggestions come to life - I don't know many places that do that."&nbsp;

Over the past year, Nvidia has sponsored full immigration support for its staffers, including footing the recently implemented $100,000 H-1B visa petition fee. Its workforce enjoys flexible work arrangements; a generous stock purchase plan; and up to 22 weeks of paid parental leave.Employees say:"Our leadership, including our CEO, often say "the mission is boss." That means great ideas come from anywhere, and people are encouraged to lean in and help the company solve problems, no matter the team they are on or the seniority level they have. Interns and early career specialists are in working sessions with our VPs and encouraged to contribute. This openness fosters collaboration and creativity, and brings diverse perspectives to a challenge."

Marriott is a pioneer in on-site health care, championing all facets of well-being, from health coaching to enhanced prescription coverage. The company has expanded financial rewards including global bonus eligibility, and its associates booked millions of discounted stays in 2025.Employees say:"The company culture is fantastic. Delta Air Lines handed out $1.3 billion in bonuses this year to its more than 100,000 workers worldwide after posting strong earnings, bringing total employee profit-sharing to $11 billion since 2015. Staffers also get unlimited standby travel privileges to any destination Delta serves, along with discounts on tickets and vacation packages.Employees say:"I truly appreciate how Delta listens to employee feedback and continues to innovate in ways that drive meaningful improvement. To produce the 2026 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For List, Fortune partnered with the people analytics firm Great Place To Work®. Great Place To Work has been surveying employees around the world about their workplace experiences for 30 years. Great Place To Work has developed a set of themes and metrics that not only predict whether employees feel their workplace is great, but predict retention, agility, and overall business success.  

Using their proprietary Trust Index™ survey, Great Place To Work measure the core of what they know creates great workplaces — key behaviors that drive trust in management, connection with colleagues, and loyalty to the company.  

The survey enables employees to share confidential quantitative and qualitative feedback about their organization’s culture by responding to 60 statements on a five-point scale and answering two open-ended questions. 

Employees tell Great Place To Work whether leaders are accessible, communicate honestly and clearly, and if their actions match their words. They tell whether they feel respected as individuals, if they receive training benefits, appreciation, support for their well-being and opportunities to contribute. They tell whether they believe their company is fair related to pay, profits, promotions, recognition, favoritism and opportunities. They tell if they are proud of their work, their team, and their company and if they feel they make a difference, and their work is meaningful. And they tell whether they enjoy the people they work with, feel cared for and can be themselves.  

List rankings are based on this employee feedback, which is analyzed to determine the extent to which this experience is shared by the full workforce. Great Place To Work measures the differences in survey responses across demographic groups and roles within each organization to assess both the quality and consistency of the employee experience. Statements are weighted according to their relevance in describing the most important aspects of an equitable workplace. 
Companies with the broadest sets of employees who report positive workplace experiences receive the highest rankings on lists.

In addition to analyzing employee feedback for the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For® list Great Place To Work also considers what a company can tell about their programs and workplace strategy. Each company also answers six essay questions that provide greater insight into how, and why the organization is great for all people. Responses are rigorously evaluated and cross-reviewed according to Great Place To Work’s research-driven criteria. From what companies share in datapoints and essays, they identify the organizations that offer the most generous, caring and innovative programs reflecting a genuine commitment to meet their people’s needs inside and outside the workplace as validated by what employees themselves report in survey results.

Surveys must meet strict requirements for how they are distributed and the percentage of employees who respond to ensure they accurately represent honest feedback from the company’s full population. While essay responses provide important context for rankings, only survey data can garner a list placement. To be eligible for the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list, employers must have 1,000 or more employees in the U.S. and cannot be a government agency. In the last year, Great Place To Work surveyed companies employing more than 7.3 million people in the US and received more than 1.3 million survey responses. Of those, over 640,000 responses were received from employees at companies who were eligible for the 2026 100 Best and this list is based on their feedback.
