Verizon Communications
Verizon Communications is a Manhattan-based telecommunications giant offering a wide array of voice, data, and video services and solutions on its networks and platforms. Employing over 130,000 workers in more than 150 locations globally, Verizon was the second-largest U.S. telecommunications company by revenue in 2020, according to the latest Fortune 500 rankings. Verizon is currently in the midst of an intense multibillion-dollar battle with competitors such as T-Mobile and AT&T for the highest speed and most widely available 5G network. In May of 2021, Verizon took a notable step away from its role as content provider, selling a 90% stake in its media group—which includes the AOL and Yahoo brands—to private equity firm Apollo Global Management, for $5 billion.
