Shell was founded on April 23, 1907 following the merger of a British and a Dutch company. Since then, it has grown into one of the world’s largest vertically integrated energy companies with operations globally in oil and gas production, refining, fuel stations, energy trading, and chemicals. It is also investing selectively in lower-carbon businesses, including electric-vehicle charging, biofuels, renewable power, hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage. Shell’s long-term strategy centers on supplying oil and gas—especially LNG—while reducing the emissions intensity of its operations and energy products.
