REWE Group

REWE is a well-known chain of supermarkets in Germany, formed in 1927 by 17 buying cooperatives looking to get bulk rates of their food purchases. Today, it is just one brand among more than 30, operating in grocery, convenience, and DIY and gardening retail across Europe, with a particularly strong presence in Austria, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Italy and Romania. REWE also has specialist online brands selling wine (Weinfreunde), pet food and supplies (ZooRoyal) and more, as well as a travel and tourism division that houses brands like Dertour and Kuoni. Altogether, the Cologne-headquartered group has 390,000 employees in around 21 countries.
