Progressive is the third-largest auto insurance carrier in the U.S. by market share, and the largest insurer of commercial vehicles. As more cars got back on the road in 2021, the economy’s rebound from the pandemic was a mixed blessing for Progressive. The company recorded an 11% year-over-year revenue increase, but a 41% year-over-year decrease in profits—since more driving meant more accidents and more insurance claims.
