The payments giant provided up to 10 additional days of paid leave to employees who were unable to work because they or a family member was affected by COVID-19. Mastercard also pursued outreach efforts like “Tales From the New Normal,” which featured employee blogs and tips designed to improve the work-from-home experience, and donated $25 million to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to aid the development of COVID-19 treatments. Meanwhile, executive chairman (and recently departed CEO) Ajay Banga received plaudits from employees for his commitment to racial and social justice.
