This startup aspires to give survivors of sexual assault more autonomy in the decisions they face. Leda makes a self-administered evidence collection kit that allows people to collect forensic material in as little as 30 minutes, so they can gather evidence even if they don’t immediately report the assault. Leda has so far piloted the kit at more than 20 universities covering 500,000 students, including through partnerships with organizations at colleges that buy Leda’s services. The evidence-collection kits cost as little as $2.50 each when bought in bulk. Leda has also sent 1,000 DNA kits to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion.
