Dollar General
Dollar General, an American variety store chain, operates more than 16,000 locations in 44 states across the U.S. The discount retailer saw its business grow during the pandemic, in which a weak economy and high unemployment helped accelerate momentum for the country’s “largest small-box retailer.” As a result, the company’s growth has brought lots of attention to Dollar General and its deep-discount competitors, which continue to open new stores at remarkable rates. A recent report revealed that in 2021, nearly half of all stores opening in the United States are new Dollar General locations.
