Deere (commonly known as John Deere) is an agricultural giant that manufactures and sells tractors, harvesters, loaders, and other equipment used by farmers worldwide. Founded in 1837 as a maker of steel plows pulled by horses, the company has expanded into heavy machinery used for golf course maintenance, snow removal, and logging. The company introduced a self-driving tractor in 2022 and is pushing into machine learning to help increase agricultural production. As of 2024, it was among a small number of companies that have been on the Fortune 500 every year since the list’s inception in 1955.
