Cord-cutting is not a new phenomenon for Charter, which has to contend not only with its traditional competitors but also with new, online-only entrants. Still, despite further declines in its video and voice subscriptions, the Connecticut-based telecom giant managed to add more than 1.4 million new Internet customers in its last fiscal year. It also successfully squeezed slightly more monthly revenue from residential customers, an average of $112.60 per month in 2019, up from $111.60 the year before. This growth helped the company boost its revenue to $45.8 billion, which was up nearly 5% year-over-year.
