Jake Meth is a former commentary editor at Fortune. In 2019, he conducted an investigation into the dangers laundry detergent pods pose for young children, which won the New York Press Club award for best consumer reporting in a magazine article. Before joining Fortune, Jake worked at the Council on Foreign Relations, where he handled media relations for Foreign Affairs magazine and the council’s in-house experts. After graduating from Johns Hopkins University in 2010, he moved to Cairo to cover the Egyptian revolution for an English-language newspaper and improve his Arabic. There, he reported and edited articles about the country’s failed transition to democracy and the impact that had on people’s everyday lives.
