Maggie Ng became CEO of HSBC Hong Kong in October 2025, keeping her role leading the bank's retail banking and wealth business there. She arrived amid a landmark buyout: in January 2026, HSBC paid 106 billion Hong Kong dollars ($13.6 billion) to minority shareholders of Hang Seng Bank, privatising the subsidiary. HSBC is set to launch "HSBC RedCoin," one of Hong Kong's first local-currency-denominated stablecoins, by the end of the year.
