GlobalWafers, the world's third-largest maker of silicon wafers, supplies advanced chipmakers. Doris Hsu has led the Taiwan-based firm since its 2011 spin-off from Sino-American Silicon Products, taking it public in 2015. A July 2026 fire at its Novara, Italy plant disrupted 8-inch production, leaving 2026 revenue roughly flat; Hsu expects meaningful growth in 2027. In September, GlobalWafers raised $1.4 billion in its largest-ever equity offering, and Micron committed up to $500 million to its Texas plant under a 10-year supply deal.
