Carol Liao joined Boston Consulting Group in 1995 and became the first woman to lead its Greater China operations in 2013; she now chairs the region, leading nearly 1,000 consultants. As exports outpace weak domestic demand, Liao says: "In today's market, you have to be 100% suitable for 5% of the population—not 60% for 80% of the population."
