    U.S. Youth Climate Strike

As an environmental justice organizer, progressive political consultant, Black Lives Matter activist, TikTok star, and high school student, it’s safe to say that Isra Hirsi has a fairly full plate. But the 17-year-old daughter of congresswoman Ilhan Omar is on a mission. Climate change, Hirsi often says when addressing crowds, “is the fight of my generation, and it needs to be addressed urgently.”

She cofounded the U.S. Youth Climate Strike in 2019 and helped organize more than 100,000 young people to strike for climate justice. She currently serves as co–executive director of the organization. Hirsi previously served as development director for progressive think tank the Gravel Institute.
