Rep. Elise Stefanik, one of the youngest woman elected to Congress, recognizes that the GOP has a woman problem, and as a rising star in the party, she’s using her influence and resources to correct it. After the 2018 midterm elections, Stefanik launched the Elevate PAC, which supports Republican female candidates in primary elections. In its fiest year, the PAC saw 100 new women, a record, run for Congress. Unfortunately, only one won her race. Now, Stefanik is going beyond encouraging women to run and focusing on how to help them win. And she’s not shying away from her party’s failures. “Take a look around—this is not reflective of the American public,” Stefanik said to a forum of candidates seeking Republican House leadership positions just one week after the midterm elections. This year, Stefanik’s PAC hopes to raise, bundle, and donate over $1 million to Republican women while boosting the number of female Republicans serving in Congress.
