Chief Operating Officer Christine Ciccone is the highest-ranking member of the Bush campaign known to have departed amidst a massive reorganization, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Last week, the campaign announced it would cut payroll by 40% and its budget by about 45% as donors pressured Bush to shake up his drooping bid. He called the organization an attempt to be “lean and mean,” and to adapt to the unexpected success of non-establishment candidates like Donald Trump and Ben Carson.
Ciccone was paid an annual salary of about $144,000.
