Medtronic Inc. (NYSE: MDT) has agreed to acquire Salient Surgical Technologies Inc., a Dover, N.H.-based developer of technology for sealing blood vessels and other collagen-based structures. The deal is valued at $525 million, minus a $45 million equity interest Medtronic already held based on a prior investment. Salient had raised over $105 million in VC funding from firms like Medtronic, RiverVest Venture Partners, Arnerich Massena & Associates and Piper Jaffray. www.medtronic.com

ABB has acquired Epyon Power, a Dutch provider of fast-charging solutions for electric vehicles. No financial terms were disclosed. Epyon had raised venture capital from SET Venture Partners, Chrysalix Energy VC, Lite-On, BOM and Breesaap. www.epyonpower.com

eBay Inc. (Nasdaq: EBAY) has agreed to acquire Zong, a Menlo Park, Calif.-based provider of payments through mobile carrier billing. The deal is valued at $240 million in cash. Zong had raised $27.5 million in VC funding since being spun out of EchoVox Corp. early last year, from Matrix Partners, Advent Venture Partners and Newbury Ventures. www.zong.com

The deal is valued at $120 million, minus a $15 million equity interest Medtronic already held based on a prior investment. Vivendi is among the possible buyers for TVN, the Polish broadcaster controlled by ITI Group, according to local press reports. ITI is looking to sell its 56% stake for approximately $1.1 billion.

MC Software (Nasdaq: BMC) has acquired Aeroprise, a Mountain View, Calif.–based provider of mobility solutions for the enterprise. No financial terms were disclosed. www.bmc.com

Deutsche Bank has entered exclusive talks to sell private bank BHF Bank to Kleinwort Benson, in a deal that could be worth upwards of €500 million.

Keynetics has entered exclusive talks to acquire OpenTrust, a Paris–based provider of infrastructure solutions for enterprise and government clients. Keynetics backers include Gemalto, Safran Group, Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, Euro-Information, Thierry Dassault Holding and Imprimerie Nationale. M. Thierry Dassault is Chairman of the Board. OpenTrust shareholders include Iris Capital, GemVentures, Crédit Agricole Private Equity, Elaia Ventures, Seeft Ventures and 123Venture.www.opentrust.com

Berkshire Hathaway has joined Centerbridge Capital Partners and Leucadia National Corp. on a possible bid for OneMain (f.k.a. CitiFinancial), the consumer lending group of Citigroup, according to the WSJ. www.citi.com

II-VI Inc. (Nasdaq: IIVI) has acquired Aegis Lightwave, a Woburn, Mass.-based maker of tunable optical devices for high-speed optical networks. The deal is valued at $52 million in cash. Aegis had raised VC funding from firms like Alta Partners, Megunticook Management, Technology Venture Partners and Vesbridge Partners. www.ii-vi.com

Compuware Corp. (Nasdaq: CPWR) has acquired DynaTrace Software, a Waltham, Mass.-based provider of application performance management solutions. The deal was valued at $256 million in cash. Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (NYSE: NTT) has agreed to acquire OpSource, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based provider of software for cloud computing systems. No financial terms were disclosed. OpSource has raised around $64 million in VC funding from NTT, Fuse Capital, Crosslink Capital, Intel Capital, Key Venture Partners and Artiman Ventures.

TUESDAY, JULY 5

Energy Transfer Equity (NYSE: ETE) has raised its bid for Southern Union (NYSE: SUG) to $5.1 billion in cash and partnership units. This represents a 21% premium to its original bid, and a 4% premium to a rival offer from the Williams Cos. (NYSE: WMB).

Capgemini has acquired AIVE Group, an Italian IT service provider from Athena Private Equity, Emerald Private Equity and Fidia Private Equity. The deal valued AIVE at €42.9 million. www.capgemini.com

Apax Partners reportedly is in talks to sell foreign-exchange business Travelex to Western Union Co.for around $1 billion. www.apax.com

Olympus Corp. (Japan) has acquired Spirus Medical Inc., a Stoughton, Mass.-based maker of endoscopic insertion devices. No financial terms were disclosed. Spirus Medical had raised nearly $20 million in VC funding from BioVentures Investors, Point Judith Capital and Village Ventures.www.olympus.com

One Equity Partners has sold Vacuumschmelze GmbH & Co., a German maker of magnetic materials, to Cleveland-based specialty chemicals company OM Group Inc. (NYSE: OMG) for €700 million. One Equity Partners had paid around $529 million for the business in late 2005.
