A smaller city on the northern edge of Indianapolis, just 28 miles away, Westfield is where urban meets rural, offering a respite from the larger metropolis.
Its proximity to the state capital means that major attractions like the Indianapolis Zoo and Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum are just a 30-minute drive away. But Westfield has plenty of its own allure, with local winery Urban Vines and the Grand Park Sports Campus, which will serve as the Indianapolis Colts’ training camp through 2027. There are also 11 different parks in Westfield in which to enjoy Mother Nature.
The city lacks diversity, but might soon see more population growth. It just received a $4 million grant for its Park & Poplar Project, a redevelopment initiative meant to create a walkable central business district that hums with community and commerce; it plans to open offices there, along with multifamily residences, and retail spaces while making room for more outdoor recreation.
Westfield has a strong school system, touting a 98% high school graduation rate and numerous awards. Project Lead the Way named Westfield High a distinguished school in 2022–23 as well as Westfield Middle School and Franklin Avenue Elementary School in 2023–24 for their participation in STEM curriculums.
