Located in northern New Jersey, Morristown has been growing steadily over the past dozen-plus years. An hour on NJ Transit to New York City, it’s far enough away to act as a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle, yet close enough for a weekend trip or commute to work on a hybrid schedule.
Known as the Capital of the American Revolution, Morristown is rich in history. Look no further than the 200-year-old “green” in the middle of downtown that once served as a courthouse square or Morristown National Historical Park, where George Washington spent the “cold hard winter” of 1779–80. There’s also the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, with 147 acres of flower gardens and a Colonial Revival mansion, and the Ford Mansion and Museum, which preserves the home where Washington lived for a few years in the 18th century.
Morristown is part of Morris County, which has healthy job opportunities and a strong economy. It hosts over 800 corporate headquarters in industries like aerospace, financial services, insurance, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.
Sharecare ranks Morristown’s community well-being at 75 out of 100 and its financial well-being at 66 out of 100. The city is home to northwest New Jersey’s only regional trauma center and has its own Pride festival.
