Residents of the Township of Parsippany–Troy Hills can have their cake and eat it too, enjoying proximity to both nature and city life. Just in their backyard is the sprawling Loantaka Brook Reservation, an 883-acre park with almost 10 miles of trails for biking, hiking, and walking, natural flora and fauna to gaze at, as well as picnic fields and a pond for fishing.
The small town has highly rated public schools and youth soccer clubs to keep kids active after class. The area is home to a number of little historical jewels like the birthplace of former U.S. President Grover Cleveland, plus a log cabin built by famed 20th-century designer Gustav Stickley, now the site of the Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms.
Located in northeastern New Jersey, Parsippany is a short commute from New York City, but residents enjoy a lower cost of living with more reasonable housing prices. And you don’t have to travel all the way to Manhattan to find something to do: Parsippany is less than an hour’s drive from other New Jersey attractions, including the lush gardens at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, the Wellmont Theater, and the Turtle Back Zoo. —CB
