With the nation’s capital at its fingertips, Leesburg is full of history. The town’s center has a vibrant scene with quaint shops, art galleries, and historical landmarks like Dodona Manor, home of World War II General George C. Marshall, architect of the famous Marshall Plan; and the historic 18th century White’s Ferry, which only just halted operations in 2020. Leesburg recently was approved to be an official Main Street Community, a program that invests in the revitalization and preservation of downtown areas across the U.S.

Leesburg has a number of high-ranking public schools, and has numerous supports in place for its aging population with ample assisted living, rehabilitation, and nursing home facilities, as well as an active senior center that offers daily meals and organized outings.

The town plays host to several family-friendly festivals, like the annual Flower and Garden Festival, the Arts Festival in downtown Leesburg, and the Holiday Fine Arts and Crafts show, making it a go-to destination for art and culture on top of the winery and brewery scene. —AM
