Gunjan Kedia took the helm of U.S. Bancorp in April 2025, becoming the first woman to run the Minneapolis-based bank in its more than 150-year history. Kedia is no stranger to breaking barriers: born and raised in India, she studied at the Delhi College of Engineering at a time when few women attended the school. Kedia landed the CEO role after successfully leading the bank’s wealth, corporate, commercial, and institutional banking businesses as vice chair since 2016. She served as president for a year before being promoted to the top job. The first year of Kedia’s leadership focused on restoring growth and investor confidence via tighter expense management, organic expansion and transforming the bank’s payment business. Her strategy seems to be working as U.S. Bancorp posted record 2025 net revenue of $28.7 billion, up 4.4% from 2024.
