Dina Powell McCormick joined Meta in January 2026 as president and vice chairman after a year on the company’s board. Previously she was a partner at the merchant bank BDT & MSD, spent 16 years at Goldman Sachs, and served in two White House administrations, including time as deputy security advisor during the first Trump presidency. Her mandate at Meta is sweeping. It includes co-leading the Meta Compute Project, in which she helps oversee the company’s commitment to deploy more than $600 billion in U.S. AI infrastructure, such as data centers, energy systems, and global connectivity. She also co-leads Meta Small Business, a recently announced initiative to empower small businesses with AI tools, including the 200 million already on the platform. Mark Zuckerberg has been explicit about why Powell McCormick was the right person for the job. Her deep relationships with sovereign wealth funds, governments, and global financial institutions make her uniquely positioned to build the strategic capital partnerships Meta needs to finance its AI ambitions at scale. It’s a role that draws directly on her Goldman years, where she served on the management committee and led the company’s Global Sovereign Investment Banking Business. She also played a pivotal role in the bank’s economic growth initiatives, such as 10,000 Women, 10,000 Small Businesses, and One Million Black Women, that have reached millions worldwide.
