Sandy Ran Xu is CEO of the Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com, the highest-ranked private Chinese company on the Global 500. She joined the company in 2018, following almost two decades at PwC. JD.com reported $159 billion in revenue for 2024, a 7% increase as China climbs out of a consumption slump. Still, China’s economy is now threatened by a revived trade war between Washington and Beijing, which could dent a budding consumption recovery. JD.com, like other Chinese tech companies, is diving into AI. Recently, the company launched a new venture in food delivery, JD Takeaway. JD is offering zero commissions for restaurants–and accusing others in the space (dominated by Meituan and Albaba’s Ele.me) of being anticompetitive.
