Safra Catz has been one of the most high-profile executives in Silicon Valley since taking over the helm of the tech giant Oracle from founder Larry Ellison in 2014 alongside Mark Hurd. She’s served as the sole CEO since 2019, when Hurd resigned amid health issues. Her position has only grown more consequential over the past few years, with the rise of generative AI and Oracle’s central role in building out the cloud infrastructure to support leading companies like OpenAI and Cohere. Oracle has been aggressive with its expansion plans this past year, including announcing its involvement in the ambitious Stargate Project, championed by the Trump administration, which plans to invest $500 billion in building AI infrastructure for OpenAI in the U.S. over the next four years. In March, Oracle announced that revenue from its cloud services business had jumped 10%.
