Priscilla Almodovar has been in the corner office of Fannie Mae, or the Federal National Mortgage Association, since 2022. She became president in 2024 and is the first Latina CEO of Fannie Mae and the only one on the Fortune 500. From a young age, she “thought she would be leading something,” Almodovar previously told Fortune. Shares of Fannie Mae (which provides one in four single-family mortgages in the U.S.) are up more than 86% since the start of the year—likely on the news President Donald Trump wants to privatize the company, along with Freddie Mac. In 2024, Fannie Mae reported $17 billion in annual net income—nearly a 32% increase from the year Almodovar became CEO.
