Jennifer Witz has been the CEO of SiriusXM since 2021, having joined when it was still just Sirius; now it’s also a newly independent company, having spun off from Liberty Media in 2024. As CEO, she oversees a base of 33 million subscribers—but one that must reposition itself against long-term headwinds including consistent subscriber losses and the growing popularity of on-demand music streaming. Witz pivoted SiriusXM’s strategy in late 2024 to a renewed focus on the car, where 90% of subscribers listen. After acquiring Pandora in 2019, SiriusXM has built an advertising business that now contributes 20% of its revenue and signed major podcasters such as Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper and Crime Junkie’s Ashley Flowers. The goal is to bring in ad dollars and make inroads with younger listeners, before they’re old enough or affluent enough to buy new cars.
