Isabelle Ferrand has been the CEO of France-based cooperative bank Crédit Mutuel Group since 2023. She is among the few women leading a major European bank. While relatively new to the top job, Ferrand has been at the bank, with nearly 40 million customers, for over four decades, with roles in finance and regulatory divisions. Ferrand’s leadership helped the company make €4.5 billion ($5 billion) in net income last year, which was flat compared to the previous year. As part of a strategic overhaul, the bank is accelerating its investments into digital transformation, including a generative AI deal inked with IBM. Crédit Mutuel also helps customers looking for low-cost loans to improve the energy efficiency of buildings and with other energy transition needs. Ferrand is also an officer at the COOP FR, which represents more than 22,400 French cooperative businesses.
